Adelaide - Variety and culture, not just a small city!

Adelaide is the capital of South Australia, the fifth largest city in Australia with an estimated population of 1.28 million. In Adelaide you can escape the hustle and bustle of the larger cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. Hiring a car is ideal as most popular tourist destinations are no longer than an hour away from the CBD. Adelaide is well known for its many festivals, sporting attractions and wine. February to March is an ideal time to visit Adelaide. During this period the Fringe Festival is held and runs for just under a month. It includes hundreds of theatre, comedy, dance, cabaret, music, and visual arts events. The Fringe is held in the city's CBD and whether you are travelling there by hire car, bus, taxi or tram, accessibility is not an issue. Head east from the city and within 20 minutes you have reached the wine regions in the Adelaide hills, one of Australia's most beautiful and picturesque regions. Various tours, tastings, and accommodation are available in these areas and are a must see for lovers of wine and beautiful landscape. Victor Harbor is a city located on the coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula, about 1 hour south of Adelaide CBD. The city has the largest population on the peninsula and is a highly popular tourist destination, especially during the summer holiday periods. Victor Harbor was discovered by Matthew Flinders in 1802 and since then it has grown to a resident population of 10,380, however over the summer season the population almost trebles! You can park your rental car on the various beach shores and enjoy the amazing view, but don't forget a jacket, even in summer it can get chilly! The horse drawn tram takes passengers from the mainland to Granite Island every 20 minutes, where you can see the penguins or enjoy a bush walk. The South Australian Whale Centre is also a fantastic attraction for the kids, as is the Girdler sideshows and the Dunes Mini Golf. Victor Harbor is famous for its many beaches, ranging from Horseshoe Bay for casual swimming to Boomer Beach for experienced surfer. Renting a car and going for a 15 minute drive along the coast lines is a great way to explore and enjoy the scenery.

They lead you through the Botanic Gardens, the Central Markets of Adelaide, the South Australian Museum's Bio-Diversity Gallery, and the Adelaide Zoo, just to mention a few. This is the place for the environmentalist in you. The central market is bursting with fresh, endless isles produce. Here they hold many meetings about new ways to preserve the environment we live in. South Australia also holds a quite famous wine region. Beautiful tours start in Adelaide Valley and end in Claire Valley, you'll see nine vineyards all in less than two hours of the center Adelaide city. Of course what is wine without top chefs creating delectable dishes to compliment the delicious grape varieties? Eat, drink, and take in the lush beautiful country. Parks and recreation are also of great enjoyment here. Take a romantic boat ride for two when you hire a boat from either Rymill or Elder Park. Parks are quite plentiful in Adelaide, so whether you're lying on a blanket in the grass, rowing in the lake, or bird watching, the scenery is always breathtaking. Come revisit the Earth in Adelaide.
